I killed the JL 12W-D4 :(

Well after 12 years, the JL gave up the ghost. I think I killed it before my trip when testing some music. The foam surround disintegrated in a couple spots. I guess I'll just have to get a new one.

I'd say you got your moneys worth. I'd imagine subwoofers have come a long ways since then.

Yeah....I'd agree with you. I can't complain about 12 years worth of service out of it.

wow, did you have that sub exposed to UV light somehow? you normally don't see that much deterioration unless sunlight is hitting it all the time (or at least during the day )

The v.2's are sick too. I have a couple myself but they're only 10s because I'm not a basshead. I only use one too at the moment.

They look so old school but they're some of the most accurate subs around.

Nope, it's sat in the trunk for almost all of its life.

Found someone in town to recone the JL. It sounds good & seems to have the same output. There's a little less excursion, but it may take a little time to break in.
