EJ22T Rebuild Start Up Problems...Help?

Post by 97imprezaobs »

so today i finished rebuilding my ej22t and putting it back in the wagon...i went to turn the motor over to get the torque converter to plate bolts in and instead of turning the torque converter a loud clicking sound came from the starter like it was shorting or something but it was connected like it was before it was removed...any advice?

another thing to note is that when i went to pick the car up before the rebuild i tried to jump it with my GL but the battery terminal caps were on the wrong side (red on negative and black on positive) so i jumped the legacy backwards and burned the fusible link...i replaced it but is it possible that the sarter got burnt also?

thanks everyone

I'd check the contacts in the starter solenoid.http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... er+contact
I know it would seem that the problem should be related to the work you just did, but, that's not always the case.
