ABS light after master cylinder replacement

Post by sobe_death »

So I recently replaced the master cylinder in my '93 SS with a remanufactured unit, and will soon be replacing that one with a new unit. Everything went smoothly, and I had to drive on it for a work day without flushing the fluid due to running out of time in the shop. No ABS light that whole day. The next afternoon I flushed the entire system with new fluid, got all the air out, etc.. I bled the ABS unit as well. Everything seems ok until I accelerate quickly or brake urgently and then the ABS light pops on.

I feel like it might be a G-sensor issue but if anything the car stops slower now but with a firmer pedal...
Is there a special bleed procedure that isn't mentioned in the service manual?

The car appears to have the Bosch system.

Thanks,
Parker

have you activated the ABS since bleeding? If not, you need to activate it to get the air out of the pump. I've read that removing and reinserting the fuse will cause the pump to cycle.

That may work, but if you can, find some gravel to try and lock the brakes up so the pump will activate for more than a second or so, and have some pressure to help force the air to the calipers.

I did activate it, but only momentarily. I know of an under-development neighborhood with nothing but gravel streets to test it out on.
