So confused
Hey guys im new to the legacy central forum. New to subarus period (but love them)
I own a 92 Legacy with just the ej22 non turbo sadly. 4 door sedan. I want to know where i can get exhaust and intakes. Basically parts for my car. Where do i go? and not stock parts. i want my car quicker.
Its my practice car for body work and performace parts.
What can i all do to my car? i need some help.
P.s. you guys probably have people saying this all day. Im sorry.

Re: So confused
Hey Welcome!
This place is a great place to learn about these cars! A lot of really nice people with a lot of information. Pretty much anything you can imagine has been covered for the most part.
There really isnt anything made for our specific cars. Most of parts off other model and year Subarus will work though, with little to no modification. If youre looking at getting exhaust for the NA I wouldnt go abovet 2.5" exhaust, 2.25" is pretty good for an NA. Thats of course if youre going full exhaust, if its just a way to get noise than a nice muffler works to get that rumble out. Intake wise all you need to do is De-snork and get a Kn"N panel filter in there (search for that stuff and you will find) I did that to my 93 Wagon and it sounded cooler and may have helped.
If you really want performance that swap over a ej22T or another subaru engine. It all depends on your budget, Time, experience, and how far you are willing to go.
Good Luck and just read all the threads and sections and dont forget to search, alot of stuff has been covered.
Anyway you can post some pics of your legacy? It always helps

Oh yeah, you can put a Cold Air Intake on but Ive been told the stock set up is just fine as far as flow, once you de-snork the car and place a better filter in. But It all depends on the person really. I believe LiveStrong on here was selling a CAI in the parts shed.

Re: So confused
What do you mean de snork? remove the black box where the air filter goes? What do you mean NA? Where would i go to find exhaust parts off of another subee or get it custom? This is the stuff that dosnt really make sense to me o and i actually do have a pic of the rust im fixing right above my window and was wondering if i can remove that black piece of strippping without removing the window...

There's really A LOT of information on this forum, and the search function does work. I understand you may not know what to search for, but give it a shot, and do check out some of the sticky and FAQ's in the forum. They will also help.
Honestly, the exhaust and intake really are not super restrictive. Unless you get a complete equal length header setup, the gains vs. the cost are really not worth it. There is very little performance stuff made for the non-turbo cars any more since it takes so much more to make just a little bit of power. MRT made a nice equal length exhaust setup for the Impreza that could be modified to fit our Legacies, but I doubt you could find it any more.
I would suggest removing the snorkel in the fender and perform a general tune up to make sure everything is running good. cams from www.deltacams.com could be done, but they're you're getting into modifying the engine internals. As it's been mentioned, bolt on stuff for a non-turbo motor really are not going to give you much power, especially compared to the amount of money you would need to spend.

Re: So confused
If it's like the rear wagon trim, you can remove it carefully with a screwdriver and putty knife, BUT I don't know how to do it without making it difficult, at best, to reuse it since it bends it and I can't see it going back in perfectly. Maybe someone has a better method.

Drive without it. That would be the perfect excuse to wear a set of those awesome old racing goggles.

Re: So confused
For performance parts for your car, search for 2.5RS performance stuff, 95% of it will fit your vehicle, it's the last Impreza before the WRX got here and is NA, but with lots of aftermarket parts available, both engine and suspension. You won't be able to use any of the electronic engine mods, however, the early ECUs are not upgradeable. You can use a piggyback computer such as PerfectPower PP-6 though.
