Found one 126k miles, 200 bucks! ECU & wiring.

With the crazy costs of turbos and restrictors for rallying I can get nearly the same power, more reliability, and instant pull the ass end out of the ditch response.

I'll make sure to get photos and try to get a good writeup going about the fab that is needed. I'll pick it up next week!

I too would like to follow in your footsteps one of these days. Isn't the EG33 something like 230hp?

The EG33 is fun in slippery stuff, for sure.

I was driving a friend's SVX with a 6mt swap up at our ice race weekend and when you went off, just plant the pedal and it had the torque to pull out vs. having to downshift in a turbo four. They sound nice too.

They sound nice too.
The sound is disgusting, with turbos and open exhaust they sound like what Porsche engines dream of sounding like.

There's a vid of a eg33 on youtube that's making 100 over stock that sounds cool.

I'm just in the beginning processes of doing this with my 98'. I figured out it's gonna be far cheaper than rebuilding the stock 2.5, and way more power to boot, so it's happening. Hopefully I'll have the donor motor/wiring early next week.

Awesome. Doesn't look like it's such a tough swap if I use ALL the wiring and such, I plan to use the cluster too if it fits.

Do you mean this car? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqnuj58lFQI

Its making around 320 whp, which is much more than 100 hp over stock. More like 200. Anyways, that motor is far from stock. There is a thread on NASIOC with all the details.

That is the one. I missed the WheelHP fig, that is quite a bit better than 230 CrankHP.

No doubt.

Here is the thread. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... +track+car

The motor is still pretty basic. Nothing crazy. And sounds like sex on wheels.

I'm pretty sure you have to do a wiring merge, you can't just fully swap it. Idk, I'm not dong the wiring for mine haha.

Just spent the afternoon in the intermittent rain pulling the motor, ripping the dash out to get to the wiring, and parts of the exhaust. Only took 6 hours to rip it all out by myself!

I'll get some pics once I'm home, it's preeeety dirty, but hopefully it'll clean up nice.

Can't wait to get started on the swap. Though I might be spliting time between that and finishing the rollcage, either way I'll be done by mid July for rally Idaho.

Dear lord are valve cover gasket jobs expensive on this thing! There are 20 bolt grommets to buy in addition to the outer and inner seals!

Has anybody ever successfully used o-ring to reseal the valve cover grommets?

I wouldn't trust Orings for replacing those gromets. But that's me.

One could attempt that. However, the bolts are set up to bottom out in the right place for those grommets. Yes they are $3 each. Welcome to Subarus, lol.

If you were to try o-rings, you would need to find a bolt that will stop where you want it. The tension on the bolt without some sort of stop could possibly walk itself out eventually. Or use some gnarly lock-tight on it.

I would try it and keep an eye on it.Use a thicker o-ring or use washers as spacers for o-rings that are too thin, should be fine i would think.
