I've had thoughts of grafting an Outback hoodscoop to the hood on my 94 wagon. I had my brother do a little photoshop to give me an idea what it would look like. I think it looks pretty sweet but thought I'd get some other opinions as well..... [/img]
I like it. Aren't the hoods from the 2nd gen 2.5GT/Outback really from the JDM twin-turbo cars anyway? Much better profile than typical Impretzel scoops IMO, although it'll be a pita to have it molded into our hoods without looking like a hack job.

I'm in luck! I happen to be a professional body man...
Thanks for the tip Zoomob, I was thinking more along the lines of 98-up Trans Am WS6. I bet nobody's done that. Maybe chrome side pipes too.
If y'all didn't see my thread awhile back, here's what the car looked like when I bought it for $300.
And now....
so did you leave the front dumper strip out or did you fill it in? hard to tell from the front shots.

Yeah that stupid plastic strip with the chrome trim around the whole damn car is the worst part about these cars. That and the hideous legacy badge on the side of the car on 90-91. Which I can't remove because it'll leave holes exposed. But if I ever paint this car you can bet those will come with off and I'll do something about that ugly strip too.

Do you know for sure that the 'Legacy' badges on the sedans are secured via hardware? Most of the other trim is secured with double-sided tape, including the side molding. Would seem uncharacteristic for Subaru to use different methods of securing trim pieces, especially in a spot that would seem difficult to access from behind the panel. Does anyone know for sure?
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
If I do it, I'll be buying an Outback hood, cutting out the portion with the scoop, cutting an identical hole in my (or another donor) hood, and welding the new section in. Should be an adventure to not warp the hood.
As for the rub strip on the front bumper, I filled it. The bumper was torn right through the rub strip so I just decided to eliminate it. I love the look and have given some serious consideration to smoothing out the moldings on the doors and fenders, as well as the rear bumper. Perhaps this summer I can do some more experimenting.
