where to buy group n 91 legacy ss rear strut tops???

i've checked a few places online and the 91 legacy ss rear strut tops are no longer made in Japan.

z1auto and japanparts no longer can get these.

anyone can lead me to a place to get these? or should i just go back with the regular rear strut tops from subaru?

If you can find some - let me know. When I looked a couple of years ago I couldn't find them anywhere. I got the line from the dealership and several of the Subaru performance places that they are not making the GrpN mounts anymore for the 91' and couldn't find a set out there. I searched for several weeks and couldn't find them anywhere.

Ultimately I had to relinquish to just buying new OEM top hats. I figured at least if they were new they'd still be in good shape. My suspension still has enough old bushings that I figured a little extra compliancy in the strut tops wouldn't kill me. FWIW, I'm running 245lb springs, stock front sway, and 20mm rear sway and the car will still pick up an inside tire so I don't think you'll be hurting too much if you just use the standard top hat.

It's a bummer for sure though. I wish you luck in your quest .

^^thanks. at this point, i am thinking that no one really stocks the group n ones anymore......

i'll probably end up with some stock rear ones.....should have bought the group n ones back in early 09 when it was still being made.......oh well....

i thought the 91 tophats were the same as GC8??? I used to have 2.5rs struts on my 91 wagon and they were direct bolt on, i think sedan was the same. check out the suspension compilation thread as well. if what im saying is true then maybe you an still find some Grp N mounts for an RS

the 91 legacies had the strut top and spring perch in one piece, so they are different. i believe 92-94 legacies uses same rear strut mounts as those 93-01 imprezas.

^^^ Correct. The 91' also have a tapered spring.

You could use an 04' STi tophat if you want to file out the mounting holes. If you do want to go that route, let me know, I've got a set that's practically brand new just sitting around I'd be willing to make you a steal of a deal on.

If Adam at Z1 can't get them, then you're only option is probably trying to find some used ones.

Lee's suggestion about the 04 mounts is a good one. One thing I'd probably do if doing that is add a washer between the body and nut to help spread that force out. However, I'm not sure how much needs to be filed out....so it may not be necessary.
