There's a 1989 Legacy in the junkyard here. I can't remember if it had A/C or not, but I'll check on it.

Has yours gone bad or is it destroyed?
I, as many have fought with the control unit and the inability to change where the air "comes out" when pushing the buttons.
I discovered two problems with mine, first the solder joints had gone bad (cold solder joints) at the circuit board. No problem, touch them all up, but then upon re-installation it still did not work well. There ended up being additional pressure put on the wire harness at the rear of the unit. I added a zip tie (same place as the fan speed control wire is zip tied to the control unit) to relive any stress on the selector wire harness and have not had a single problem every again.
I think I have a spare 90 HVAC controller if you need it, bought when trying to sort mine all out. Condition is unknown, think it was about $20 from the JY. If you want it let me know and I will dig it out of the garage. $30 shipped.
