Patti is back in action

Post by entirelyturbo »

Actually, due to an emergency, my Legacy is back in service. I got in my XT to go to school yesterday, the Legacy still up on stands with no front lug nuts on hand, and when I approached a stop sign in the neighborhood, my XT's brake pedal went to the floor  :!: Thankfully I was only going about 10 mph and was able to stop. I turned around and parked in the driveway, where a big puddle of brake fluid was sitting, amounting to half of what was in the reservoir. So I skipped class, hopped in my granpa's truck and snagged the lug nuts I had on order for the Legacy (they came in that morning :o ), and got her back together. Drove around, car ran like a peach, so I took it to work. Everything's fine.

So now I am driving good ole Patti for a daily again, as the XT drips more brake fluid all over my garage floor

Where one Subaru fails, the other prevails!!

Wow.

What happened to your XT's brakes?! Did a hose pop or something?

I'm not quite sure yet. My garage floor has several puddles on it already. It looks pretty scary, but I think it is dripping onto a central location somewhere and running down several different directions... I mean, one of the drip points is on the front right tow loop, completely ahead of the whole system!! :x

I'm not terribly upset though. The car has performed the daily grind (and a race along the way  ) superbly, and it turns 16 years old tomorrow!!

Yeah, there's probably just a single leak somewhere. But that's scary. You got pretty lucky but it could have been ugly. When was the last time you examined all the brake hoses and piping for hardening or corrosion?

Happy early birthday to Ginger!

My car turned 100 (thousand miles, that is) earlier this week.
