How to make power windows operate better?

Post by ericem »

Hey guys, I am just wondering how can I make my windows go up and down a little better. They are pretty decently quick, but I hate how when I lower then it has alot of slack. Where is the slack coming from? Is there something that commonly loosens up or wears out? Thanks!

As far as the slack goes, I can only guess. Maybe something is loose or whatever rides in the track is worn. You have to take it apart to find out. If you decide to take it apart, I suggest finding the service manual, or maybe Alldata has the info on how to align the windows. It can be a pain.

As far as speed goes, I feel the wiring for the window motors poor. On the Legacys I've had, one window is really affected by using others at the same time. A step up in wire gauge might help slow windows. Changing all of that could be a pain too.
