revtronix stage 2 on ej20g=FAIL
so i have been running my 91 legacy successfully for about a year with a 1994 ej20g with matching grey top injectors and the stock vf and maf, with the stock coilpack and wiring. car wasn't quick but was reasonably happy other than setting cpc codes. i have adivorced downpipe and walbro.
i recently purchased a revtronix from another member going to megasquirt along with the proper jecs maf.
i installed the chip, td04 and intercooler over the weekend, and the car is absolutley the worst driving vehicle i have ever had the displeasure of driving. it is very lean in the midrange and bucks violently at 3000ish with anything more than 20% throttle. i replaced my prone to leakage intercooler plumbing and smoke tested above 17psi, no leaks. it is setting 22 canister purge, 35 knock sensor, 45 switching solenoid, and 49 improper maf codes. never did before. leads me to believe that the limits for the switching solenoid and maf are incorrect. i cleaned the maf, and looked into restricting the switching solenoid manifold reference and seperating the map sensor to have it's own reference, but not sure it would help. it really drives like a crap tune.
can the revtronix really be this terrible and still sell? do i possibly have defective chip?
i am already talking to rob about the switch to the ej20g ecm and cop ignition, just waiting on parts to ship.
i would love to recoup my loss on the chip (paid 250 shipped with the maf) and sell to another member staying 2.2, but honestly i cannot do so if i think either the chip is bad or the tune is crap. which is pretty much where i'm leaning now.

probably just answered my own question looking at cylinder head flow numbers for various heads, if the g heads flow enough more in the middle, pretty much answers that.
still, wouldn't mind some input.

The EG20G ECU actually was able to accept the revtronix chip? I know Mike talked about it being possibly able to support the EG20G, but not w/o someone coming up for a custom tune. The chip is clearly tuned for the EJ22T ECU.
Also, who know what custom stuff the person you bought the chip from had programmed in from Mike. No way to check either...

yeah, i got an email from him talking up his user programmable and even discussed ordering a chip to run the g, then poof! nothin.
no, it's an EJ20g running on all stock legacy peripherals. 2.2 ecm, wiring, coil etc.

Um sounds like you need a knock sensor, and you are not running a JEC's MAF?
Either way there shouldn't be any codes, and eventually the chip should do fuel enrichment. Have you tried resetting the ecu? Do the codes come back?

new knock sensor 1 month old, tested the wires. sets the knock sensor code only if i drive it hard enough for audible knock. no atmospheric switching sensor code hours prior to installing the chip.
codes do not set at start up, so it isn't a sensor issue (i.e. computer has looked for odd voltages), only once i drive it and get above load vs. rpm limit (around 3k with over 20% tps)
no problem, i have harassed rob enough about the new chip, no loss to ditch this one.

rob yes, mike from revtronix, hell no. hence ditching the chip...
i'll give the ks trick a try should it still set with the ej20g ecm swap and new chip. looking forward to COP, my coilpack and my hood are slowly becoming one...

U may want to reset The long fuel trim. Because it was on a different car. Your car should adjust to your setup but it may take awhile.

yep, sure will!
so far so good. got the harness repinned this weekend. gd coilpacks modded and installed, coil trigger harness made and run (just need to clean up and split loom now). 520injectors in, still on the td04 until i get some time later in the week.
the tech's car always comes last, even with a track day looming. darn customers paying my bills...
