Greetings from the FNG

So, I finally managed to pick up a turbo Legacy. It's a 93 Touring Wagon, white, ~106,000 miles. The car is to be my winter driver, as I don't want to subject my STi to Colorado ski resort parking lots. ;)

Stuff I have planned for the wagon:

new struts - this thing handles like an aircraft carrier
OEM 16's (RS or Legacy GT)
intake/exhaust mods (of course - I already put my a K&N panel filter in it)
Boost controller (I have a Blitz EBC laying around)
turbo (TD04?)

This the 6th Subaru I've owned, so I have some leftover parts laying around. I know it seems weird to be stoked about a car that has mediocre (at best) performace, but I think the old-school Legacy turbos have SO much untapped potential. Cheers.

Untapped potential is right. They have the displacement of a bored-over WRX engine and closed deck heads. If you want massive power out of it right away do a stand-alone ECU. TD04 is a minimal upgrade, I do believe. But if you have a fresh one laying around it won't hurt to put it in if the other turbo is tired. A TD05-16G or IHI VF23 would be more suitable to getting more out of the extra displacement.

And don't forget that it is intercooler impaired.

I'm weird and proud of it Image

And I don't even have a turbo... :D

Welcome to the club! I'd like to see what you can do with a TD04 turbo ;)

Thanks, guys. I may not go the TD04 route. I was informed the swap is not as straight-forward as I thought. Also, I'm definately not shooting for big numbers. I would just like it to be close to a stock WRX wagon in terms of grunt.

I have a friend that is going to help me go through the motor & do the following:

* new crank/cam seals (I saw that it was seeping oil today...no biggie, I've seen other EJ22's do this)
* timing belt
* replace water/oil pumps
* add tranny cooler

It seems like a good idea to get some of this stuff done before I start upping the boost. Being stranded sucks. :)
