TD04 Finally Installed

Post by Mattheww044 »

Hey guys, I finally got my TD04 installed. Pics to come. Everything went fairly smooth, other than the F-pipe of course, and the silicone 90 I bought hits the manifold pretty badly, and im assuming restricts the flow to the turbo quite substantially. I ordered the 90 from: http://www.turbohoses.com/90%20degree.htm
2 1/4". A little spendy I know, but I think that it will be well worth it. That is a really tight bend to get from the turbo up into the stock 90 that connects to the silencer, and its hard to find a silicone 90 with that tight of a bend. So when I test drove the car afterwards to see how it felt, and it was actually slower than before, im guessing just because that elbow is such a restriction. I will post results when the new one is on.

The other thing is the F-pipe. I am slowly getting to where I need to be to get this thing on, but it is such a PITA. I got about a foot of each size hose so I can do whatever I want with it. It just seems so damn hard to get to the PVC valve and the plastic stock 90 without having either of the hoses kink. I am working on a set-up as we speak, but there isnt much room due to the BPV routing from the TMIC, and all of the other stock PCV stuff in there. Can anyone post pics of what theirs looks like? Thanks

I will also be installing my 440's, JECS, and Revtronix stage 2 chip soon, and I will post my results. Ill get pics of everything once I feel comfortable enough with my work to post pics of it online :D

omg, i dont think Ive ever been so fristrated with this car, especially over something so stupid. The freakin F-pipe just broke in half, after trying to route it to the intake, because the f-pipe is so close to the intake, its hard to get those 2 connected. I am going to have to drive around without those hoses routed for now.... Don't really have a choice. Everything is closing since Its sunday and I have shit to do. Any advice or pics would be greatly appreciated

Pictures and writeup from my TMIC and TD05 install. Even more pictures on my website (link in the thread).

While I'm not entirely happy with my f-pipe setup, it appears to work. Should've went with transmission hose instead of the heater/coolant hose, as now its soggy and doesn't hold shape well.

yea I just got done looking at that. So your F-pipe is extended all the way back almost facing straight up, and sitting right above your turbo? It'd be nice if we could just buy a "T" that would be perfect, but I can't imagine one with 3 different sized outlets..... ugh what a PITA. Ive taken miy whole intake all the way to the turbo apart at least 5 or 6 times today over one freakin pipe haha

You need to just redesign the routing and get rid of that stupid f pipe altogether its really not hard...wish i took pics of my setup.

I just can't seem to find any parts that would work. The fact that all 3 hoses are different sizes is the thing that rally gets me. did you sell your car?

haha. Yea I just finally got it to work. Out of the crank is like a 1.5' freakin hose, and the f-pipe is above the turbo.... i realize it could cause it to melt, but right now Im just glad its done haha. Thanks for the help guys.... I might have to look into making my own like you did. Can you possibly take a pic of your set-up, thanks man..

Look at how I ran my setup i just left the original f pipe I didn't even remove it just turned it around. I used the bottom hose that runs to the coolant tank for the line from the f pipe to the pcv valve and the other hose was a misc hose I had? Either way no leaks.

Only thing I need to do is make a bpv plate for the intercooler as the way it is in place is not sealing.

I didn't really take any pics of the procedure sorry man. I should start doing that. But when I am working on my car I am SO set on getting it back up and running and testing it out that pics are the last thing on my mind :D

It's pretty straight forward... the only things that I can think of that you really need to do are: something about the F-pipe, several different routes have been taken. Mine is super ghetto, but im in no rush to fix it since it works. The right elbow for both sides of the turbo (to intake, and to intercooler), and the coolant lines. I can't remember which ones I ended up using, but on one of the turbo's the bolts are spaced a little farther apart so I think I used the vf-11 ones and cut the bracket and ground them so they would fit. Pretty basic, and if that's coming from my mouth you should be fine
