02 WRX Springs/Struts into 94 L

Post by TonyAWD »

So, thinking of ditching the spongy stock stuff for some more performance oriented goodness. Now, i know 02-03 WRX springs are direct replacements for 92-94 Legs (mine being a 94 L Wagon), but is it literal as in "take out old spring and put the wrx one in its place"? Was looking at the suspension sticky and it showed this whole list of stuff and i got confused. -_-

Also, could i use a 02-03 Rex spring/strut combo on my stock mounts? My car only has 68k on it and the mounts are in pretty good shape, plus i'm trying to save some cheddar here, as i'm a poor soul. Also, any recommendations on what products to buy? What has worked for you guys?

Thanks;
Tony

Another-question BUMP

Will these: http://www.rallysportdirect.com/static/ ... p-357.html, fit on GC8 spec GR-2's? Would tophats be an issue?

I don't really see any major reasons they wouldn't fit. Should be alright.

So Stock 92-94 strut mounts w/ Eibach Wagon springs on GC8 struts will work?

EDIT: Found these on nasioc:http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=2032652
what do i need to make them work? Just 90-91 tophats in the rear correct?

In theory that should be ok....if my memory serves me right.

As for the STi stuff, I'd suggest checking the sticky threads. Actually I'd suggest verifying it regarding the WRX stuff.

FWIW, I have complete '06 WRX Wagon units (struts/springs/tops) on my '90 wagon. The fronts bolted right in; the rears required my ghetto fix (enlarged 2 holes/drilled one new one). I believe the rear '92+ were changed and are the same as the WRX, since I've used OB/Forester/WRX complete units w/my ghetto fix.

With the WRX (and Forester) the front sat about 1/2" higher than the rear, so I put in some 'saggy butt spacers' to level it a bit....the WRX sedan units may be a different height in the rear (but the tops are the same).

I also installed '04 STi units in my '98 Forester project - they were a direct bolt-in, too....but same issues w/the front a bit higher than the rear.

As of now i think i have the setup down, i just need to find the parts. Gonna do S.techs on oem 02-03 wrx struts. Nengun has a V5 STI setup, but the price is nuts, $335+$267 shipping.

Why not kyb gr2 with h&r spring, you can pick up that combo for under $600 shipped to your door. That way everything was designed to work for your car and everything will bolt right up. Plus you will know everything is new and in perfect shape
Just my opinion
