FS: R160 3.90 Mechanical, plate type LSD

Post by vica153 »

SOLD.

I have the rear diff out of my squashed coupe. It's the friction, spring disc type of limited slip design like in the STI. Out of some old subaru, the guy I got it from didn't know.

It's inside an early 90s legacy differential housing. Axle Stubs, female axles. The axles are in good condition.

The bearing caps (bolt on) are corroded in spots and a few chunks fell off around the outside of a few of the bolt holes. I just put big washers on the bolts and it works fine.

The pinion flange is off a 95 Impreza MT rear diff.

It's not pretty. I cleaned it up a little then primed, painted it black, but after 1 winter in Michigan there is surface rust coming through.

It definitely makes it easy to get sideways on your favorite snow covered corner  ....I would imagine....because I would never do such a thing.

I can take pictures of it if anyone wants, but you can just imagine any old r160 housing with axle stubs.....except this one has a surprise inside. :-D
Heres a photo of the diff:

I took it apart and everything looked fine, then i put it back together and replaced the ridiculous phillips head bolts (really subaru? phillips head? ) with allen head bolts.

Ran fine the whole 6 months I had it in. Early January untill June, only 4-5k at most.

It would come with new axle seals, but someone stole my toolbox last week  and the seals were in it.

$500 OBO

Yeah the axles are fine. I would like to sell the diff first. I'll sell the axles afterward if I still have them.
