Heater shuts on and off sparatically

Post by LegacyLS90 »

Well, i've had this problem for a long time. My heater only works 30% of the time, and when it does, the air flow isn't strong. Sometimes it comes on, but it'll shut off by itself and won't come back on. It takes forever for my defrost to actually defrost the windows. Does anyone know what this could be because it's a HUGE inconvience....I HATE being cold! :x :?

What shuts off? The blower? Or do you just start getting cold air?

If it's the latter, it's probably air bubbles in the cooling system. If it's the former, it's some electrical problem to track down.

Maybe you need a new blower resistor. It's been discussed before so a search should be useful.

The resistor is basically coils of resistive wire. It gets heat cycled a lot, which eventually wears it out, causing minute cracks in the coils.
