What shuts off? The blower? Or do you just start getting cold air?
If it's the latter, it's probably air bubbles in the cooling system. If it's the former, it's some electrical problem to track down.

Maybe you need a new blower resistor. It's been discussed before so a search should be useful.
The resistor is basically coils of resistive wire. It gets heat cycled a lot, which eventually wears it out, causing minute cracks in the coils.
