Wheels, Engine Bay, and Gauges... (56kb = death)

Post by skid542 »

I've been faily quite on the boards recently. Life's been busy and all of that. However, I have my car running - still sorting out an idle issue and I have a lean peak at tip-in - but I finally got some pictures. A lof of people helped on the BBS - Thank you!. So I wanted to share a few photos to show that I haven't been full of crap and your advice has lead to something beautiful.

So -

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've been really pleased with how it's turned out.

Kimo - yes I'm running meth/water injection instead of an intercooler. Right now I'm only pushing 10psi but once I get it sorted more I'm planning on running up to around 20psi or until my clutch slips. The resevoir is just a small tank to keep a slight head pressure into the pump and make sure it doesn't run dry. The main tank is my windshield washer tank - I used the one from my OBW since it has two pump locations (for the rear sprayer). That lets me use the bottom pump to push fluid into the resevoir. The washer pump flows much more than the water injection so it always keeps the resevoir full.

^^^ :). You weren't around when Vikash had his limited edition digital scan tool. That juicebox has been re-programmed and now operates as essentially a small select monitor. It gives a real-time graphical readout of all the ECU parameters and shows me in active/stored engine codes. That little juice box is the coolest thing I own for my car.

Hey those are my old Advan TC's!! I purchased those Pirelli's for them too off of Tirerack. I can instantly recognize them. Your SS is looking awesome! I wish mine was that clean.

I remembered they traded hands a couple of times pretty quickly after I sold my '95 L sdn

I'm just curious about this thing sticking out of the middle of your manifold ? boost sensor ?

also, where did you get that plug wire set ? i need to relocate my coilpack also.

No dyno numbers yet. I'm still running just wastegate boost, 10.5psi, but considering how it seems to stack up against other cars and the old configuration I'm saying it's around 230 chp.

Dyno numbers will follow this summer once I get it fully tuned out and the boost turned up :).

The thing sticking out of the intake manifold is an IAT sensor. I'm running speed density and not MAF. It's one of the advantages of the MAFT Pro piggy back system.

As far as the plug wire set, I made them. I got the DSM wire set and made the wires. It was actually a bit of a pain but it does allow rearranging things in the engine bay a bit and still run nice 8.5mm wires. The only problem is the wire sets aren't particularly cheap and when I got mine, DSM didn't offer a 4 cyl wire set and I had to get the 8 cyl set - but it let me make new wires for my OBW.
