I recently bought a 1994 subaru legacy with a ej20g swap and a vf22.
when i bought the car it didnt have a downpipe on the car, so i bought one and modified the rest of the exhaust so it would fit. But now i have came to this new problem which is....
when i let off the gas going 10 mph or any higher i hear a metal clunking noise like the downpipe is hitting something, and ive tried a couple things to see if it would fix it.
So if you guys have any advice for me that would be great.
and ill post some more pictures of my car so you know what it looks like
Find anywhere your downpipe is close to, remember that the engine moves a bit so if your exhaust is close it will hit. My friend had to bend some metal out of the way because his headers were doing the same thing on his STi
Wow thats a sexy Winestone SS. Makes me want to paint my hood or just get a new one (its black)
Looks great when the car is all one color lol.
But i believe i have the same problem as you. My downpipe has a little tab that comes off of it and is supposed to fit into a tab that comes off the car and you put a bolt through them. I havent put a bolt in it yet and those two peices hit each other sometimes and make an annoying rattling sound.
I also noticed the heatsheild on my up-pipe is loose as hell.
I'll look and see where it's hitting when I get the car back.
I just sent it off to get some body work and to get the right front fender painted. You can't tell in the picture but the right front is gray
