Potential coolant tank replacement? Breather tanks?

Post by randomiam »

I'm being optimistic but these sound quite a bit like the coolant tanks that frequently break on our Legacies

I made the current tank work by replacing the fittings and such but its not going to be a long term solution. It sounds like to me these are essentially the same things -- a quick google search brings up a handful of similar tanks of the jdm variety and some in the uk.

I guess I'm seeking out a bit of validation from some folks a bit more knowledgeable than I.

Thanks!

I'm curious to know if people have these as well and how they installed them. When I go FMIC I'll be looking to clear some space, including replacing that little tank.

I got a metal coolant tank from a WRX, I wanna say I paid $25 for it?

Never heard of anyone here breaking their metal tank.

These tanks are a little different, and I'm not sure they'll have the same size and number of connections needed. I know there's one larger size line coming from the turbo and I think there may be one more. I don't recall at the moment.

I think you'd be better off trying to fit a metal WRX coolant tank if you can. Otherwise if you can get one of these breather tanks with the proper connections, they should work.
