Sea Foam Question?

Where is the optimal place to induce Sea Foam into an engine? I used the Brake Booster Vacuum line, but I don't think it worked that good! What places have other people tried?

Another way is where tke PCV valve is on the intake manifold.

Yeah I was looking at my manifold a few days ago for a good location to put the seafoam in and there were no central locations that would feed each cylinder equally.

I think the PCV is what I used, some valve on the manifold at least, I found it mentioned in a few threads on here when I searched for Seafoam.

FWIW Seafoam did nothing for me, but maybe you'll have better luck, or worse luck I suppose would be more appropriate

What was the procedure you used? I believe you're supposed to let the engine suck up 1/3-1/2 a can while holding the throttle open so it doesn't die and then let it die by choking on the seafoam and let it sit for 10 mins. Pour the rest in your tank provided it's relatively full and then start it up and go for a spirited drive to burn it all off. This should allow it to sit on your pistons and break down the carbon deposits before burning it all off.

I read a writeup on this a few years ago on USMB and I think that's how it goes. I did it to a couple of my cars and did not notice any difference except on one legacy I had it suddenly had a lot of lifter noise which went away shortly afterwards. I've never put it in the oil though.

I read your not suppose to let it stop your engine because it could hydro lock it!!! but besides that everything else you said was the way I did it. I did put some in the oil in my moms car a few years ago seemed to me like it worked really well because the oil was super dirty! almost black I ran it in the oil for about 300 miles and then changed it! I was thinking that the best way to do it was, induce it into the intake that way it should feed all the cylinders equally but its pretty much imposable because of the MAF! they make a spray stuff that I think may work but I am not sure how good.

why not just pour it down the throttle body? You gotta keep the car from shutting down so pour it in there while holding the gas open. that should hit all 4 chambers.

Supposedly there's some black stuff on the throttle plate that the Seafoam will clean off, and it's not supposed to be cleaned off.

Kimo that's exactly what I did, didn't put it in my gas tank though, I already put a fuel treatment in a month or so before that was basically the same thing. And yea, I didn't put it in the oil, sorry but nothing is going in my oil lines except oil.

As for the hydrolock, I've heard that you can dump the whole can in at once and it won't hydrolock, it's not as easy to hydrolock as people seem to think.

Don't know, i just took everyone's word for it. It seems to be up for debate whether or not it matters though

won't the car die without the MAF if you take the intake off!!!

I'd definitely suggest using the PCV valve to put the sea foam in. YOu can remove the hose from the vent on the block, turn it upside down and leave it connected to the PCV valve. Then you can pour a little bit sea foam in the hose. It's not going to ingest it fully until you put your hand over the end of the hose and create a stronger vacuum to open the check valve in the PCV valve. You can do that and keep the RPM's up.

Lol thats what I did I used the PCV valve it worked great! Man that stuff smokes a lot hahahah I smoked out so many cars
