SubyFusion wrote:I am still confused at to why you are using silicon??? we only use silicon for special parts such a plastic, but for what your doing a fiberglass mold is perfect. Fiberglass is also alot cheaper then silicon. Also are you still using pva? if so I would not recommend it as pva tends to leave an orange peel in the gel coat, use the wax it work way better. If you are using wax how are you going about applying it? coats ect. let me know I am just trying to help out :D

I picked silicone because I thought it'd demold easily, and allowed me to make only a single part glove mold rather than a two part mold. I'll probably go fiberglass on my other projects, but I'm not skilled enough for two part molds yet..

Yeah, the pva left a bit of a funky orange peel... The wax I have goes on kinda like car wax, you brush it on, then polish it with a rag. Three coats are what the instructions were...

I dont mind sharing, and I definitely appreciate advice.

Scoop update, I'm ready to start laying fiberglass, so I'll go pick up some throw away brushes tomorrow and some gloves... Hopefully its warm out tomorrow and sunny.

haha for sure man, I definately think its worth it to spend the little extra for the bolt-in scoops anyways. Not to try and jump off track to easily, but how do those ELHs sound on your leggy?
