'97 Legacy Outback - reconditioned by GD **Sale Pending**

(It's Forest Green despite the dark appearance in the picture)

I have here a very nice '97 OBW - loved by just one previous owner - an older couple just a few miles from me. Clean, Automatic, 169k, regularly maintained by a local garage, and a clean and clear OR title. It came to me with a burned exhaust valve - apparently the valve adjustment was not done at 105k as it should have been. It had the original 3 layer MLS gaskets and they were NOT blown so it has not been overheated. The short block looked excelent and has visible factory cross-hatching in all cylinders. It has:
Completely rebuilt heads - valves/seats ground or replaced, all new guides, new stem seals, fresh shim adjustment, cleaned and resurfaced.
New OEM 4 layer MLS head gaskets.
New intake/exhaust gaskets as well as new exhaust studs and nuts (all OEM).
New timing belt, water pump, all idlers, cam+crank seals, and resealed oil pump.
New AC idler bearing.
New air filter (OEM) and spark plugs.
Almost new brakes at all 4 corners. Pads are at least 90% and you can still see the machining marks on the rear rotors - fronts have no wear lip so were turned or replaced recently. Brakes are smooth and quiet.
Ice cold AC. Wonderful heat and defrost - rear defroster lines all work.
Toyo tires with about 75% tread.
No delayed tranny engagement and no torque bind. One of the best shifting auto's I've driven in a while. Very smooth.
Good condition Interstate battery - starts every time and held it's charge while out of the car for over a week while the engine was being assembled.
Pioneer single disc CD stereo and front speakers - great sound!
Super CLEAN interior. No rips or tears anywhere - no dogs, non smokers.
All axle boots are good, suspension is tight, quiet, and smooth.
Tinted windows
Factory alloys with all center caps intact.
The driver's side seatbelt is scheduled to be replaced at my local dealer as soon as they get the part in (lifetime warantee on belts) because it's freyed. *EDIT* - replaced.
It's got a few dings here and there and it's got a little bit of the piston slap (common and benign on the EJ25D) when cold but nothing that concerns me.

It will be going on craigslist in a few days (at the latest after the seatbelt is done by the dealer) and I'll be asking $4500. For BBS members the price is $4250.

Located in Portland, OR. Delivery within a few hundered miles can be arranged.
