Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
True but still. But him going to ford race team made me lose respect for him.

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
I still have all the respect in the world for a great driver making a good career decision to move to a manufacturer that still backs their WRC teams. If anything Subaru has lost my respect.

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
Why! If you were Subaru, you wouldn't just go and change your engine design that has worked for 38 years! Thats just stupid! Its WRC Thats in the wrong here!

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
Hm, I forgot about that whole standardized engine garbage. WRC IS crazy for that. I thought Subaru pulled out to save money. Maybe it was a combo of the two, since it would've been a tragedy for them to run a straight engine anyways. But still can't hold it against Block, he can't be expected to retire from the sport he loves over manufacturers' problems.

Subaru intends to return to WRC, but all I can find about it are rumors and speculation from Subaru.

Subaru ended their factory-supported WRC contingency before the spec class was announced. For many reasons including their satisfactory market share and the economy.James614 wrote:Hm, I forgot about that whole standardized engine garbage. WRC IS crazy for that. Ken Block received a factory-supported WRC driver position offer from a manufacture other than Subaru, and he accepted it. Would you not do the same?

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
i read an article somewhere posted on mysubie.com about subaru thinking about or producing a 1.6l engine to get back into the wrc while still utilizing all (if not some) of the STI power.

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
If that were the case, the Impreza WRC would have no connection to the STI

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
Why not? The early rally Legacys were STI's (Subaru Technica International developed) and further modified by Prodrive.James614 wrote:If that were the case, the Impreza WRC would have no connection to the STI

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
I wasn't refering to the STI modification. They don't need huge homologation numbers anymore, so the showroom models will likely continue with 2.0 and 2.5 boxers while the WRC will likely have an exclusively developed 1.6 with little relation to the EJ207/257.

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
I guess I don't understand what you mean. What I was saying is that a car isn't an STI because it has an ej257,207,20k,20g, etc motor in it. A car is an STI because STI (the company) worked on the motor, regardless of the motor type.James614 wrote:I wasn't refering to the STI modification. Prodrive said (in the documentary "Impreza") that the only part of the motor that was the same as the street version was the block halves.

Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
I think he just means that the high end model on the street won't even be a rally car anymore, because they're just gonna release enough of them to be able to race. I read somewhere that they were designing an STi for this year's rally season(which obviously didn't happen) and were only going to release 900 of them to meet the homologation requirements.mike-tracy wrote:I guess I don't understand what you mean. Re: Ken Block Crash!!!
395hp from a 1.6 ain't too shabby, but it Cosworth-built.
I wonder if the turbo restrictor size remains the same.
