Okay so I went and looked at this WRX that is suppose to have an STI v7 swap in it. Is this really a v7 STI engine? also are these engines zero clearance? the guy who owns it, bought it from the previous owner after he crashed it, and when it was wrecked he broke one of the cam gears! do you guys think this engine is toast? If so how much would it cost to rebuild? Is this really a legit v7 swap? and how much is this engine worth if it does need a rebuild?

Thank, Brian

This is the receipt from the previous owner from kingpin for the v7 swap

It looks to be a V7 motor. The intake cams are AVCS, like they should be. The recipt looks legit. It's a cable throttle on a red manifold (red can be faked, of course). The Kingpin ECU is likely a V7 ECU (for AVCS) re-tuned for our gas. You can see where the AVCS harness has been soldered in. Looks like a USDM WRX intercooler though.

The cams, valves and pistons could all be at risk because of the broken exhaust cam gear--so make sure it's priced accordingly. What are they asking for it? If possible, swap on a fresh cam gear and fire it up before purchase.

Well now there's a car I haven't seen in awhile, damn, it got fucked up :(

The sticker on the ECU looks like junk, but it's legit.

If it was me, I would take the chance for $1600 on the whole car.

In fact, if it's in SoCal and you choose not to persue it, PM me the details.
