What should the abs sensor read?

Post by HappyFrog »

I changed my right rear abs sensor today, but the abs ecu still complains about it. I didn't drive it, I just started it up after replacing it and after a minute or so it started to blink code 7.
Does anyone know what the sensor should read? Is it just resistance and if so, how much should it read when it is in front of and between teeth?

Well I've got some conflicting info from the FSM, It's telling me "Specified Voltage: 0.8 - 1.3 kohms"

Since obviously voltage isn't measured in ohms, I'm not sure sure what's incorrect, the units or the wording. What I'd suggest is measure the resistance on one of the other sensors that you know is working and good, and compare it to the one that is giving you problems. If the resistance is similar/same, I'd check the wiring and or the tone wheel.

I'd interpret "0.8 - 1.3 kohms" to mean 800 to 1300 ohms. Since when wasn't resistance measured in ohms btw? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm

That is what they drilled into my head in electronics class. +2 on checking the wiring especially clean the connector(s).

That should have read "voltage" not "resistance". Sorry for the confusion.

Odd. I measured on one of the other sensors and it returned nothing. Will try the rest and check my multimeter.

you need to drive it!!!!!!! at least 10 feet or so. I battled abs sensors for a while and ended up replacing one that the code never went away.
