Turbo questions
What turbos will bolt up directly without mod if possible to my 94 legacy SS? I don't really want to get another stock one for my car. I'd rather replace it with something I can get more power out of sometime down the road.

Re: Turbo questions
Pretty much none. The VF11 has a uniquely angled outlet. I think maybe VF10 but I'm not sure. Nothing worth upgrading to in my opinion. You just need to suck it up and get an 06/07 WRX TMIC, Samco (or equivalent) y pipe hose, some extra piping and several T-Bolt clamps and custom plumb up a bigger turbo.

Re: Turbo questions
Alright well get a bigger turbo but you're still going to have to change the plumbing because the bigger turbo is going to probably be clocked at a 90 degree angle and not a 45.

Re: Turbo questions
Ok that sounds easy enough. The stock turbo for my car is the vf11 right? Or could it be different? Also what's a good kinda cheap turbo upgrade for my car? And where would I find it? I've been looking but I haven't really found any. I'm only gonna run a lol over stock boost. Prolly around 10-12ish. So I won't have to upgrade the fuel injectors. Well just yet.

Re: Turbo questions
Tons of posts about this... search is your friend.
TD04 or TD05 are the common upgrades. you'll also need a 06/07 TMIC, walbro, wideband, possibly larger injectors (440cc are common drop in replacements), and then eventually EM.

Re: Turbo questions
You have a TMIC with the stock VF11 turbo already??
A wideband is really a good idea soon as you start to mess with fuel. So I'd say only once you swap in larger injectors, you should plan on getting one. the lc-1 + xd16 is a common/cheap setup.
bigger injectors are needed, depending on the turbo and boost level you're running. only sure way to know is through data logging (evoscan or revscan software + cables) to find when the IDC is approaching ~90% and/or when they go static. larger turbo will also max out the stock MAF, which means you'll need to swap in the JECS MAF... and then you MUST use EM to remap the airflow table.
TD04 is cheaper and more commonly found. TD05 is going to run at least $300+... since it's bigger, more lag, but obviously has higher cfm output. you MUST have all the supporting mods to use the td05, as even on stock boost levels, it maxes out the stock injectors and maf.

Re: Turbo questions
Alright wow that helps a lot thanks. And yes I have a tmic off an 03 wrx I think. The firewall got a lol hammering done to it for it to fit. (done by previous owner) and I have the wrx hood scoop on my car with the hood cut out for the intercooler.

Re: Turbo questions
A new turbo for $100? What is it made of, plastic? I would never put one of those on my cars. The blades, bearings/bushings have got to be junk metal.

For one thing that is a sizable turbo there,be prepared to upgrade lots of things. Also I would not trust a unit of that price,be ready for your engine to inhale a cloud of high velocity inconel and aluminum (not ideal )

Ok so I found a turbo pretty sure I'm getting it. It's a td04 with less than 20k but I haven't gotten it yet. And I searched some but what do I need to hook this turbo up? Ik I need a 90 degree outlet for the part of the turbo that faces the intake manifold. But what else do I need if anything else?? All help will be very appriated.
Thanks!
