Help finding 1991 Automatic AWD non-turbo Trans

Hi Everybody!

I new around here, but I will give you my back story. My Dad was engineer and did a lot of high end machine shop work on various cars. He raced SCCA, and some earlier organizations. His daily driver was a 1991 Legacy Wagon AWD non-Turbo. He passed away in 2001, and my Mom continued to drive the Legacy until I bought it from her a in September of 2010. The car has 120,000 and I'm thrilled to be the new owner. I replaced the CV joints and wheel bearings, fixed door handles, replaced broken lock cylinders, 4 wheel alignment, and bought new tires.

Then the Transmission failed! I live in the Cincinnati area, and I have been searching high/and low for reasonably priced used transmission. I would be willing to drive 2 hours to pick it up. I haven't been able to find anything... except $900 for a used transmission with 200,000 miles, or used transmissions from ebay that look a little sketchy.


If anyone has any ideas... Please let me know.


I found a transmission & I'm back on the road. Now I just need some fuel injectors, and AC hose.

Sounds like your Legacy has some good history with it, and I hope you can find a trans. I'm going to copy your thread to the parts shed and hopefully someone will be able to help out.
