92 ej22t into 92 wagon w/ 98 ej25 swap

Post by BallinSubie »

I've got kind of a complicated situation for me to handle. I just want a few questions answered if thats cool. I have a 92 legacy wagon that came stock with an ej22. The guy i bought it from dropped a 98 legacy ej25 in to it, keeping the ej22 heads (frankenmotor build). Its really not fast and i am having a lot of problems with it. I can get ahold of a 92 ej22t engine from one of my buddies for cheap.

What I really want to know is how the ej22t will wire up and such. I don't know if the wiring harness is still the stock one because they guy did the 98 ej25 swap. I was hoping one of you could tell me that.

It would also be very nice of someone to make me a list of exactly what I would need to do the swap. Such as ECU, exhaust, TMIC, turbo, boost gauge, blah, blah, blah.. you know. all the necessary things i would need. I was wondering things such as fuel lines and the fuel pump and all that kinda stuff.

I am curious how hard the wiring will be because they are the same year cars and stuff. I just really wanna know how hard it will be to go from a 98 ej25 to a 92 ej22t. It would be nice for some good input :)

I think the big question is what was done when the 98 was swapped in and whether the existing harness was modified or not.

Swapping in the ej22t to a stock non-turbo first gen legacy is not that hard. There are several threads with pretty good detail on what is required. It would make things much easier and cheaper if you can find a donor car so you can get things like the additional turbo sensors, front crossmember, exhaust, etc.

Ok so I found out that the wiring harness is still the same one.. And I am having trouble finding any posts about a swap from 2.2 NA to 2.2t... There are a few but they don't really explain what is needed... If you happen to cross over one, could you link it to me?
