so i found this in a box that the previous owner gave me... i know its a bypass valve... but um im pretty sure my car needs it but im not to sure. i think they removed it when the tmic was installed please help me and tell me if i need it and if so where do i connect it...?
a BPV is a By Pass Valve
a BOV is a Blow Off Valve
they are the same thing no need to worry, and if you have a topmount intercooler you should have one installed on it but I cant tell without actually seeing it

As far as my knowledge goes you need one or the other... There are several debates on here on whether a BOV is "ok" to use over a BPV. The BPV recirculates the air back into the intake, where the BOV just releases it into the air. The ECU thinking that the air is coming back into the intake, but it not being there can cause some small issues that others don't want to mess with. I tried a BOV on mine and it idled like crap and didnt run quite the same, but of COURSE it sounded Bad-A
I'm just running the stock BPV for now
