Hey,
First off figured this was best place to post this. Ok so first off I got a 91 Legacy L (non-turbo). Ok so here is my issue. When I put any amount of gas into the car doesn't matter if it's $5 or fill it. It will drip a amount of gas on the drivers side just behind rear wheel. I jacked car up and had a look no hole that I can see, also if I fill the car. It will only drip for a day or two after then nothing. Gas miliage is still same. However the smell is getting annoying? Anyone have any ideas?
Also I recently found a way to check top of tank in trunk, and well it seemed to be dry.
The reason I am lost is the gas should tech fill the passanger side tank first correct? then the drivers side? The tank is like split into two, if your looking at it. What is easiest way get it off? Any information be great. Thanks
Odd gas tank leak

Look at this post.http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... highlight= Your leak is most likely at the same spot.
its the filler tube, there is a black cover that goes on the out side facing the rear wheel, and follows it down past the bend where it goes under your car, if you pop off the plastic piece (should be 3 scews and one clip type thingy) youll watch a pile of dirt fall to the ground, it gets built up in the bottom of the bend, i have the same leak, exact symptons you described....sucks, but i guess you can put some gas tank sealer there and that should get you by....until it happens again, or just change the filler tube....
Good luck

Ok,
I was just up and checking it, and either I am reading this wrong or different issue. Ok so here is what I did,
I took our rear seats and truck covers so I could take the two little covers off above the tank. 4 screws holding passanger side on in and 3 holding drivers side in. Ok now they are dry as a bone. So I was looking at the passanger side and their is a black tube running into the tank, which I believe is my filler tube? It looks fine no rust or maybe the plastic peices comes off. If so how? Also can it be done with tank up or do I have to drop my tank? ( Any easy way to drop tank or does whole rear assembly have to come down? )
Just so I am getting this, the filler tube is on the passanger side ? However my drip is on my drivers side. Is this your guys issue also ? Sorry about so many questions new to backyard repair, and well have to learn sometime eh
