painting amber bulbs
i tried searching for the past hour, but i remember seeing some posts about having an amber bulb and someone painted it silverish but it still lit up orange. does anyone know what paint to use or where to buy the paint? or if not can someone link the thread that had it posted? i typed paint bulb, paint light, clear tails, etc and couldn't find the post. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Why not just get a clear bulb?
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Re: painting amber bulbs
well i cleared my tail lights the other day and i still need it to blink orange when i signal. i can see the bulb through the lens. i saw a post where they painted the bulb silver but it still turned orange when they signaled. i'm just gonna test out some hi temp silver paint applying a light coat and see if that works.

Just go to autolumination.com, they have silver tipped and colored amber bulbs.
I'd check the light output if you paint it yourself (Even if you buy a pair, just to safe). It's hard to say how much it'll effect light out put when it comes to real world use (dirty lenses, direct sunlight, fog, etc.)

Pointless, go to Autozone and buy a silverstar turn signal bulb, they're like $3 a pair, painted silver already.
Re: painting amber bulbs
I have painted numerous of these to put in the cleared headlights on our wrx. the trick is a single light coat and no more. The amber will blink thru just fine.
