05 WRX Springs on a 94 ss

Post by timebeach »

I wanted some confirmation on this before I bought anything and have to exchange any parts. I'm going to put 05 WRX springs on my 94 SS. If I understood correctly, I'll need to change my strut mounts to the 90-91 setup, right?

I also was curious as to the struts themselves. I want to use the KYB GR-2's since I have used them on a couple of daily drivers already and like their performance for their price. When I order them, I will order the struts for a 94 SS, correct? Or will I need to order the struts for a 91 SS because of the different struts I will be using for the 05 WRX springs? And does this mean I will have to change the top hats as well or will I be okay using mine?

One last concern is the fact that I'm getting some rims from a 2010 WRX that are the 10 spoke, 17 x 7 with a 5 x 100 bolt pattern. They're gonna cost me $200 without tires and they are local so I figured I'd pick them up so I can have the option to upgrade my brakes down the road. Will that make any difference in my suspension choices or am I okay with what I have listed?

Thank for any advice and wisdom anyone can provide. I read the suspension threads for over a week and hope I got it right.

You found a set of 2010 WRX wheels for $200??? Wow lucky find, you shouldn't have any issues running them. As far as the struts go I'm not an expert, from what I've read on here you want to use your tophats in the rear but the front will be fine. But then some people don't, so I really don't know. I would guess order WRX struts, not the Legacy. It has to do with where the spring land is on the strut.

This thread helps a tiny bit...
