Here is the Blue top Optima that we got!
And i got a little creative at work and made a heat shield out of a pair of old used BMW exhaust manifold gaskets.

Re: Project RallyX: 1991 Legacy Turbo
Got a few more things done the other day. Slowly getting closer and closer to the race this weekend.
Installed my old WRX boost gauge into the center dash vents.
I think we will actually be able to see this thing now at night.
Put the lightbar on the car.
installed our ghetto MBC! Tuned in at 13-14psi.
Installed the maximum number of studs in each tire. Hopefully this will help out!

Re: Project RallyX: 1991 Legacy Turbo
This weekend was a HUGE fail. We had to shut down after the 8th run due to a knock in the motor. It sounds like this ej22t decided to act up and spin a rod bearing. Such a disappointment as this weekends race was the most anticipated race of the year for us. There is nothing like going wide open on a mile long track on a frozen lake at night... We will most likely pull the motor this week and start to tear into it to access the damages. Who knows where we will go from there... The ej22t has a unknown amount of miles on it. The ODO that the car came with (which wasn't even working anymore) read 230k. So, if we were to do anything to that motor it would be a complete rebuild. On the other hand though, we have a pretty much complete ej257 with a spun rod bearing with much much MUCH less miles on it.... I think I am liking the sounds of a vf39 ej257 w/ forged pistons over a ej22t.... I love me the torque of the 2.5's! If we do what we are talking about doing, we will be looking at turning this thing into a 300hp monster.

Ohh man, too bad it failed. I was looking forward to some videos. GL on the 257. I want more torque as well.

Re: Project RallyX: 1991 Legacy Turbo
Haven't had the time to dedicate to the video yet. Been out shooting guns all day to make up for the lack of racing. Now we are on our way home from the race (6hr) drive for us, and I am trying to get some homework done.

Re: Project RallyX: 1991 Legacy Turbo
Well the rod bearing on cylinder #2 decided to spin. It looks like we caught it just in time because the damage is so minor. The bearing is still completely intact and the crank looks pretty damn good still! We are hoping that we can just just polish the crank and slap in some new bearings.

Re: Project RallyX: 1991 Legacy Turbo
What class can you run studs on your tires like that? Our local rallycross only allows either all-season street tires or rally tires.

They are for Ice Racing, not RallyX.
