Front Differentional Locked Up ?

Post by tjaiz »

UPDATE- I bought this today for $400!! Hope I can make this into great everyday driver!!! Im loking at buying a 92 AWD Wagon with auto trans . Seller stated he was driving about 40mph and car came to screaching halt and died. started right up but would not move in forward or reverse, also would not move in nuetral..Had towed on flatbed, when winching up front tires were chirping all the way up but rears rolled fine..had to pour antifreeze on flatbed to get off...slippery?? lol.. after a few days he tried to move car and would only move a few inches in forward or reverse while somewhat hard on accelerator... no check engine lights, 190k miles on car... also stated he replaced front & rear brake pads a few hundred miles prior... what is problem with locked up front diff??
 transmission ? , will fwd fuse cure this ? new fluid ? etc..? :? ??????=== Thanks in advance

First things first... Check to see if his "new" brake job didn't come apart.. I've had a few screeching lock-ups from bad brake jobs over the years and it's just a jammed up caliper or something.

Aside from that you're looking at either front or center differential.. Assuming you're asking about the FWD fuse, you probably have an automatic.. If you do have a manual the FWD fuse doesn't do anything. Your best bet is to check the brakes first, then consider buying another tranny...

What year, make, and model is it?
