SWAP??

Post by legacy92turbo »

i love my car, the power and the 5 speed, but theres just to much rust and little things. A girl i work with has a 93 legacy awd auto, and the body is really clean with no rust and has about half the km mine does, she got it for like 400 bucks, so when she decides to sell it (she wants a prelude) i could probs get it pretty cheap, and then swap my engine and tranny into her car.

I want to know what you guys think about this

who would rather deal with lots of rust and dents and who would rather swap over everything to a cleaner car?

i like that it would be lighter too because of no sunroof or ABS and more of a sleeper

i would like too just worry about the engine and other stuff that can be swapped over to this car if it happens, rust is just too hard to deal with for me, and will the 92 SS front bumper fit on a 93 N/A legacy?

Go for it. Lots of work but it'll be worth it. Rust sucks. You'll be less frustrated swapping than dealing with rust problems. Bumper should fit.

Mechanical over body any day, especially where you don't even know how bad it is until you start tearing into it. It's almost always worse, though in my case with Duchess, it was nowhere near as bad as I imagined—what I saw from the outside was pretty much it.

If you're up for it, swapping the entire harness would make it as a complete swap as could be, but may be a little more work than you're interested in. If you don't want to swap the entire harness, you can modify the non-turbo engine harness for the coolant temp sensors being on the opposite side, add the wiring for the turbo specific sensors, and swap the positive pins for the crank & cam sensors. There's some threads on here with some additional details on what is necessary.

Then for the 5mt swap, both Dave (DLC) & I have write-ups on what is needed.

Nice drift but seriously, $27,500? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! What a joke. STI engine swap and running 500HP on a WRX trans lol. Spent 10K on gas? Doesn't even mention engine mods or anything, where's he getting the extra 200hp from? If I had known these cars were worth so much with a simple STI swap and WRX trans I'd have quit my job a long time ago and started my own business swapping and selling 1st gen legacys.
