Clutch Cable Replacement

Post by Cinder55 »

I recently acquired a 91 Subaru Legacy wagon and the clutch cable broke on the wife today. I've searched the various Subaru forums hoping to find a step by step replacement procedure. Is this a fairly easy job? Does anyone have the steps involved handy as I don't have a service manual for this vehicle. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. The cable snapped about 2" from the end of the clutch pedal.

Thanks in Advance!

Welcome to the BBS.

It should be pretty easy to replace the cable. It should hook in by the pedal and I believe there's a threaded part by the clutch fork. I'm not aware of any step-by-step procedure someone has written up.

You can download the overseas Legacy manual, section 4 that has info on the clutch cable. It will be slightly different since it's for a right hand drive model, but should give you the idea.
