step light installation?

Post by dafrompa »

has anyone ever intsalled a step light on to a car that didn't come with one and if so how do you wire the light in so it works? (I am talking about the light that goes on at the bottom of the door)

I havn't put any on the doors, but put some in the rear roof of my last wagon. Just wired up to the dome light (make sure to add fuses)

Here's a good write up on running wire through the door.

You could also install some lights under the side skirts (depending on your location, not sure how'd they hold up) That'd take care of both front a rear passangers and you wouldn't have to run wires through the doors.

Here's a site with some flush mount lights

I don't remember where I got mine from

Found the site I got mine from
http://autolumination.com/fixtures.htm

8th set down (2x 1 Watt LED Flush Hole Mount Utility Lights)

Don't know why they have "NEW" flashing around them, I bought them like 2-3 years ago. I was happy with them though, I beleive I got the warm white ones.

EDIT: Just got to thinking you might be wanting to install the factory door lights... If that's the case I'd look at junk yards for door cards that had factory lights or Ebay for the lights.

Good luck, I'm a big fan of adding useful little features
