I'm curious what thoughts people have on retaining the stock oil pressure switch, vs. putting in an oil pressure sensor, and tieing the idiot light on the dash into an output from the Link ECU.
The benefits of doing this is that it simplifies the installation and reduce fittings/hose that could leak or fail.
The drawback is that you lose a redundent sensor configuration.
If I have the room, I would like to have both, but I don't know if I'll have the room to put a tee on the block for both the stock oil pressure switch and a line going to the oil pressure sensor. Plus due to the BPST fitting on the oil pressure switch, finding a tee with exactly the right threads without adding a bunch of pipe nipples is going to be challenging.
Anyway, let me know if you have comments.
Thanks

Re: Retaining stock oil pressure switch.....
Well I decided to just use the pressure sensor directly screwed into the block. It's going to be a more simple setup and have less chance of oil leaks.
I bought this adapter that is threaded for 1/8" NPT which will allow me to screw the sensor directly into the block.

I could have probably drilled and retapped the stock fitting for 1/8" NPT, but I didn't.
Also, in my research for fittings to use so I could retain the stock pressure switch I had a hard time finding the exact fitting setup I wanted, male 1/8 BSP x female 1/8 BSP x 1/8" female NPT. However, after a bit of searching I was able to find something that would have worked.

Re: Retaining stock oil pressure switch.....
What did you end up doing with the stock dummy light?
Re: Retaining stock oil pressure switch.....
I am running it off of my Link ECU. So when the ECU sees less than 5 psi, it will trigger the light.
