Yakima fairing question...

Post by soobrdad02 »

Wondering if any of the members here have ever used something other than the Yakima-endorsed 38" wind fairing on their roof-rack. I ask because I was recently leaving a local outdoor sporting-goods sale/swap and as I was leaving, a seller, apparently fed up with the lack of sales, was throwing a 44" fairing into a dumpster right there in front of me! Knowing that these usually go for ~$60 new, I grabbed that badboy with the quickness! Now I'm wondering if it can be used as-is, or if I need to get "Dremel-happy" and do a little moddin'. Anyone???

I have a 38" fairing, and it is practically the full length of the car. You would probably have to cut it, otherwise it'd be hanging off the car. The material shouldn't be difficult to cut with a router bit for the dremel.
