Gauge Problems

Post by 92legacy-sti »

I have a 92 Fwd AT. Recently the brake warning light and battery light near the gauges have been flashing together randomly. It seems to happen mainly on the highway after I hit 60 mph or so. I replaced the battery and alternator less than 6 months ago, and the brakes seem fine. I also had it tested at Auto Zone recently and the charging system is fine. So could it just be that the sensors or gauges went bad?

Here is a video of what it's doing...

Also, the check engine light and the "AT TEMP" light are suppose to come on when I first start up the car, but they have not lit up since i've had it.

Based on your comments, I'd suggest the alternator, but it sounds like it's ok. When you had the alternator tested, was it tested in the car, or did you remove it from the car? If it was not removed from the car, I'd suggest removing it from the car to have it tested. They sometimes do not test correctly while still in the car.

Other possibility is a bad diode or a short/wiring issue.

Have you checked all the fuses to make sure they're not blown?
