So here's some pictures of my new rally car. I decided not to build my Legacy into a rally car. I figured this way I can still drive the Legacy everyday and beat the crap out of this car. It's a 1984 Dodge Colt GTS Turbo. It's a G5 car and has a history. It was first built back around 1990 and has successfully competed 27 SCCA Club Rally events. Who knows how many other non-SCCA events it has completed though. It was piloted by Mick Kilpatrick and Jim Gilaspy most of the time, and was the champion car in it's division for Club Rally in 1997 and 1998. Jim and Mick are currently leading the same division in their G5 RX7. I can't wait to race against them in their old car! http://www.hugheshometheater.com/Photos ... I've been working on getting all the stickers off so that I can get the car painted.

The cage is severly out of date and I am having a new cage put in it around Christmas. It's being put in by probably one of the best rally car prep guys on the west coast, Brian Moody. He's the guy who took sixth in Pike's Peak in his Audi S2 last year. He's had three guys have really hard crashes in the last two years and his cages saved their lives. The interior is also getting freshened up with some Momo Acropolis seats and some paint
nice, have you seen turbododge.org? great tech site. those td's can make a ton of power! what are the specs on the engine, what suspension setup are you running, anything else notable? my friend is getting ready to buy a glhs turbo omni. the greatest thing about turbo dodges is that nonone knows they can be fast.
Yeah it's the 8 speed. It's a blast to drive. It's putting out around 180 whp and weighs around 2000 lbs. Super quick. It has Bilstein's all around. Need a new front strut. I'm getting the front two rebuilt here pretty soon. I had not seen turbododge.com but I'm definitely heading over there next. It makes my NA Legacy somewhat more boring to drive however .

There is a power and economy setting that is adjusted by an additional lever next to the shifter. There are two ratios for every gear. It's very similar to the high low in old Subies but is geared for street driving not for off road like in the old Subies. It's kind of interesting. Makes for fun highway driving. Cruising along the other day next to a Lexus in 4 eco at around 80 mph (~3000 RPMs). Kid pulls up next to me and is checking out the car. I notice and drop it into power mode and floor it. Off the clutch and I'm at around 4250 and into boost. A few seconds later I'm around 100+ and the Lexus is way behind me. I slow down and he pulls back up. Paces me again and I drop down and fly away again. Such a fun car to drive.

When it's licensed in my home state of Wyoming. When you have very few people and lots of space and have people who don't like the gov. telling them what to do you end up with no emmissions laws. Most rally cars have to be street legal anyhow I believe. It's actually passed CO emmissions though in the past.

if it passed emissions its not making enough power. what class you gonna race in? group 2 is it? also wyoming is awesome for going really fast. drove through there last winter, probably going 110-120 most of the way.
It illegally passed emmissions though. It has a cat that's ready to get the hell out of there though. I'll get some action pics in the next few days and post them for ya!
