post head gasket issue...

Post by mrmcq »

So got the subi back together and filled with coolant after changing the head gaskets, well now it is having this funny idle issue... it idles at like 2.2k for a min or so then it wavers down and up and down and up. The down part rpms fall off almost like it stalled it triggers the cel then jumps back up and light goes out. I haven't driven it except to back it out of garage.
While I had the intake off I pulled off the iacv changed the gasket and sprayed a little cleaner in it. Do you think I messed it up by doing this? Any ideas on a simple fix?

Pull the codes and see what the ECU is telling you is the problem.

well the initial problem I couldn't pull the code because the light would only flicker on the low end of the oscillations. However, after driving it a couple days, the oscillations have subsided greatly and only on initial startup, seems to only fluctuate 200-400 as opposed to the original 1600-1800... I have no idea... either way it seemed to fixed itself partway.
