Question about midpipe length

Post by Templar »

Hey folks,

Well, before I joined this board I was trying to replace the rust eaten custom exhaust on my wifes 91 Turbo Legacy. The car has a scoobysport downpipe which is in good shape, but from there back it was really getting bad due to the many New England winters the car had endured before we saved it.

So when I tried to bolt up my WRX exhaust to the downpipe I discovered that the exhaust system came up a bit short, like 4 to 7 inches. The axleback went into the hangers just fine, but when I went back to the front to bolt the cat section up to the downpipe, I discovered the flaw in my plan. After coming to the website I found out what I suspected which was the exhausts are different lengths.

So, my question is does anyone here know exactly how much I will need to lengthen the midpipe for the exhaust to fit?

Thanks

I think most people extend the axle-back portion, that's what I did. I extended it about 5-6".
