update timing belt
got er all fixed today the gear next to the water pump seized up and the bearings exploded/melted, made the belt lose some teeth. Got her all back together and the guy that helped me noticed that my crank pulley was a tad wobbely at idle.
Probably a bad pulley right? whats the likely-hood the crank shaft is going fubar?

I've lost all those ball bearings once. I was off-roading at the time, lol. Had to tow it 13 miles back home, that sucked!
The wobbly crank pulley is common. There are several threads on it. Basically, I wouldn't worry about your crankshaft other than the keyway. You just had it apart, did you inspect the keyway at all? If not, I'd pull the pulley back off and check if it's chewed up at all. If it's fine, which I suspect it is, you may want to get a replacement pulley. Pretty much all original pulleys are going to wobble to some degree. If it's a small wobble I wouldn't worry. If it's a bit extreme, I'd get an aftermarket lightweight pulley.

Re: update timing belt
keyway looked brand new, whats your opinion on lightweight pulleys

Re: update timing belt
I've never ran a lightweight pulley myself, but the general recommendation is to NOT run an under-drive pulley, just a straight lightweight pulley.

Re: update timing belt
now theres freaking oil leaking from the timing cover around the oil pump and all along both sides. freaking tired of fixing one thing to have another thing break

Re: update timing belt
Sounds like its just the crank seal, I typically change out the crank and cam seals while I am in there just because I am there and like you found out, they leak eventually. Also take a good look at the wrist pin plugs and make sure that those are not leaking either.
Re: update timing belt
i changed all the seals, and those plugs you mentioned are the ones on the oil pump itself right?

I'm not familiar with the various pullies available, so I can't answer that.lucas wrote:such as the grimm speed pulley correct?

Re: update timing belt
so after replacing the crankseal the damn camshaft seal started leaking... figures. But another problem has come up im only getting 15 hg at idle, checked all my vacuume lines all seems fine. could a leaky cam seal cause low idle/ in hg readings?

Re: update timing belt
Check to make sure all cylinders are firing/working. Pull the spark plug wire off each cylinder and see if the engine running changes at all.

Re: update timing belt
I have a kartboy pully, got it from boxer4racing.com but I actually live relatively near their shop, so I picked it up rather than wait for shipping. Only paid $99 for it too. It is significantly lighter than stock.
