How tuned up EJ20G with VF12

I´m novice here, hope that´s a good category for this topic. If not, sorry.


Few mounts ago I make a swap EJ20GN engine (IHI VF12 turbo, 5speed manual,water cooler) from legacy I to my GC8 impreza. Everything works (except the speedometer I don´t know why )

We made several modifications - steel headgasket, 3->2,5 downpipe, TANABE 2.5 exhaust, Thermotec on manifold and downpipe, STI ver.3 intercooler, Intercooler water spray from RA, Oil catch tank, walbro 255,sti clutch, Elec. boost controller.

Turbo is in good conditions(don´t want to change it).
I would like to get 260-300hp. In case of setting the pressure more than 1bar, ECU make a fuel cut.
I do not want to use programmable ECU.

So, which Subaru ECU is best for me? (Z4....)

Or do you think is better to use the TF05 turbo, STI injectors, AFM and ECU?

Or is there some better way to get more HP?

Contact rob on this forum or nasioc. I think he should be able to sell you a tuned ej20g ecu for your turbo and injectors. Theres a thread on this in the electrical section. That should allow you to run as much as 18 lbs of boost before your air flow sensor tops out. You may or may not need sti 525 cc injectors. He should be able to sort you out.

Welcome to the BBS. Regarding the speedometer, were both cars 5spd MT? Did the speedometer have a cable or was it a speed sensor (electronic) at the transmission?
