Any idea what I should be lookin for? It builds boost fine according to the gauge, but u can hardly hear the turbo building boost and hardly any noise coming from the Bpv even shifting at full boost. And it definately doesn't seem faster feels a little slower actually. Any ideas why?

Yeah, he's not running any type of management.Legacy777 wrote:Link G4 stand alonecj91legss wrote:Legacy777 wrote:I ran 20 psi with SOHC, it's not a huge deal, you just won't get the flow compared to the DOHC heads.
with or without engine management/piggyback ecu?

have any of you guys heard of the micro-squirt standalone engine management? my friend can hook me up with one for pretty cheap, so I'm looking into it a little more, but wanted to get some of your guys' opinions as well. thanks

I believe this is the one he is talking about. its made for bikes and sleds and such, but my buddy said he has seen it on a few cars and they all ran very well. when it comes to EM, i honestly have no idea what to look for, so if any of you guys have a second to look at that and let me know what you think, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

does anyone have any ideas why the car is slower with the td04 than the vf11? and I can hardly hear the Bpv at all

how are the rest of your air/vent hoses?
i remember mine were old and after i replaced them (and the leaks with them) the car ran waaaaaay better.
did you plumb your bcs/mbc correct? is your BPV backwards and or leaking/broken? - i went through three of them
when was the last time you changed your fuel pump? - are your injectors all working?
what about the wasegate setup on your turbo? my td04 wastegate-clip thing came off sometimes and i would never build boost.
that should get you started
As for Engine management, it makes no sense at all to purchase a system that will not let you manage fuel wherever you need to. so whatever you buy, make sure you can tune with it for both DD and the track.
Link, AEM (
) open source.. but you would have to get a wrx ecu, for our car's specific computer's there isn't muvch selection aside from revtronix which is gone?? depends on how far you want to go with the car really.

Re: Matt's 5MT SS: Starting from stock! (exhaust clips added
ya. all the hoses should be fine. I'm kind of questioning my Pvc routing at the moment, but that wouldn't affect the performance would it? I think the main problem is that silicone 90, I just ordered one that is a tighter bend because mine hits the manifold and might be folding under boost. injectors are fine, just had them cleaned and flow tested. I am looking at buying a used revtronix stage 2 chip from someone, and I am hoping that will make it run a lot better until I can afford a standalone

Re: Matt's 5MT SS: Starting from stock! (exhaust clips added
from what i understand you've just essentially added a ton of air and it needs to be tuned somehow to add the extra fuel... unless its that silicon elbow i sent you then thats whats going on because i dont think these ECU's automatically dump more fuel when more air is seen or if it is.. someone can correct me obviously but those are my bets

installed 04 WRX struts with prodrive springs yesterday, definately lowered the car alot and handles alot better obviously. Could definately use an alignment though

Re: Matt's 5MT SS: Starting from stock! (exhaust clips added
Just got my innovative lc-1 installed. I got it for only $187 for the whole kit, gauge and all. I am running SUPER rich at WOT, but I have a few issues im going to look into today before heading off to WCSS12. Im going to check/ replace all my plugs, and possibly coil pack. I sprayed down my motor at the car wash, and its kinda been running crappy since, so I think thats a good place to start.

Revtronix stage 2 chip (JECs MAF and 440's)
Ski Racks w/ Cargo rack
Tinted windows
more to come!
ill try to get some pics up, but here is the latest! This is the mud pit from WCSS 12

Re: Matt's 5MT SS: Starting from stock! (exhaust clips added
i think after. all it was was that i bought a stupid throttle body coupler for my TB to TMIC from auto zone, and it was complete garbage. It slipped under the hose clamp, so i took it off, tossed it and put the old one back on, never happened since

Re: Matt's 5MT SS: Starting from stock! (exhaust clips added
found a huge fuel leak, turns out the top o-ring on one of my injectors was ripped, replaced it and reset the ECU and it seems to be acting ALOT better.

Re: Matt's 5MT SS: Starting from stock! (exhaust clips added
Haven't been doing too much to the car lately. I just put on black door handles and put electrical tape on the "door ding" strips and put a new trunk on. This pic was yesterday right after putting my Perrin springs back on instead of the Prodrives I did have on there.
Within the next month I should be my clutch in. I just got an ACT HD clutch kit with less than 5k miles on it for $200 shipped ($700+ from Summit) and next paycheck I am getting Group N Motor and tranny mounts, WRX shift linkage and bushings, and then saving up for timing belt kit and some other maintenance related stuff while I have the motor out. Then I am getting red Rally Armor mudflaps, and very seriously looking into buying a Standalone. I also just installed Hella Supertones. Here is the most recent pic (yesterday)
