94 Legacy Turbo Wagon strut replacment

Post by GTwagon »

hi everyone,
sorry for starting a new thread but im not understanding the sticky on the suspension.
i picked up a 94 GT wagon two weeks ago and am in need of replacing my struts.

92-94 AWD....GC/GM/GF (93-2001impreza)........FP
........................GD/GG (2002- impreza)................FP, SPT
........................BD/BG (95-99 legacy)...................FP
........................BE/BH (00-04 legacy)...................Probably FP, No fit rear!
........................SF (98-02 forester)......................Probably Nothing
........................SG (03- forester...........................Probably FP
........................BC/BF fwd....................................Rear struts don’t Fit!

so let me see if i got this right.
i can use any front strut from a 93-01 impreza or 02-07 impreza.
or 95-04 legacy but fronts only.
nothing on the forester's.
ok so i have my stock 03 wrx struts.
if i use them i would need to reuse my springs and top hats and get a new camber bolt?
can the rear's fit also? or would i want to get the wrx wagon rear's for the sagging issue?
also i take it that FP and RP stand for "front plate and rear plate"?
are those the top hats?
just tryin to get a better understanding on my legacy suspension, which is interchangeable.
i dont care about if it'll lower my wagon also, just need it to be better then whats on the wagon ATM :(.
also i was reading some where about legacy's using sti struts? is that possible?
my local car forums always have stock 05-07 stick struts for sale for under 300.
thanks for reading this and have a great day everyone.

you can use your wrx struts and use either the legacy springs and top hats or the wrx spring and top hats
in the rear you will need to reuse your legacy top hat but you can use wrx struts and springs as long as the springs are for a 02-03 wrx

05-07 sti struts do not bolt up easily, 04 sti do bolt up

hope that helps

ok thanks alot with the info.
and what do u mean with the sti strut not bolting up easy?
i take it that it needs to drill out the camber bolt hole to fit the stock camber bolt?
also what rear sway bar fits in our legacy wagon's?

ok been doing some reading.
the 05+ sti wont fit due to hole pattern different?
so i would have to redrill hole's to line things up?
guess i;ll stick to my wrx struts then.
thanks for the reply.
also about the sway bar's.
that sucks we can't use the impreza one's due to our gas tank being in the way :(.
so much for using my wrx rsb. double :(.
so am i stuck with the whiteline 22mm rsb since none of the impreza one's work?

you can use a wrx rsb, you just need to hammer the bump by the spare tire flat
