engine temp sensor

Post by snailslow »

when i had my manifold out, the stock temp sending unit prong broke.. car ran at perfect temp.. so i drove a few days like that.. today i bought a new sensor, plug it in and it goes straight up to over heating.. if i turn the key off to to 2nd click, it sits perfect at middle where it should be.. any ideas?

its a standard products one.. they had a oem bousch? one but had a diff connecter on it. im gonna take this one back and try a diff brand.. i just tried a new connector and it still shows hot, so im letting it cool down so i can change it back to the stock on, im gonna run it and then touch the wire to it and see.. then i can at least rule it out

Is it the single wire temp sensor or the dual wire temp sensor?

Buy the sensors from Subaru. They can be bought pretty inexpensively from one of the online subaru dealers.
