Temperature Relalated CEL?
I have been having problems with the CEL coming on when I start my car up. I have noticed if the ambient temperature is above 50 degrees then the CEL might only come on for a minute then turn off, and might only pop on when I am at a stop light. For about the past 3 weeks, we have had freezing temperatures, and will stay on most of my commute to work, but will eventually turn off, but will still pop on when I am at a stoplight.
When I first bought my car, it came on, I ran a tank of gas with fuel injector cleaner. At this time the Ambient Temperature didn't get below 60 degrees...
So what might be causing this problem?
I know I am lazy, but I havn't got to around testing things yet...

I will get around to pulling the codes on of these days(probally in the next few weeks), but I am just seeing if anyone knows what would be causing the problem. I also notice I have the light just stay on sometimes when there is rain...

dude you got a 93. pulling codes is even easier on the 92-94 legs. you dont even have to take anything apart. to the right of the bottom of the dash on the drivers side is the connector right there. i pulled codes in a parking lot in the dark.try it out. check out joshs webpage its got all the info there.

yes.....I make it a point to not even guess what the issue is if a CEL is coming on.....there's no point. Just check the codes. Once you get the connectors out once, you can usually just reach up there and connect them by hand. That's what I can do.
Here's another pic. Be aware too, that on some of the 92+ models one or both connectors may be on the right side of the steering column.

Today, I finally have enough time to pull the codes from the ECU, but I am having the hardest time finding the 2 black connectors, I can find the green ones though. Does anyone have any advice for me in finding them, would it help if I moved the ECU???

they should be right next to the green ones, probably still taped to something, see if you can't get a flashlight and a mirror up there.

Wait, just after re-reading this thread, Josh mentions something about either one or both of the connectors being on the right side of the steering wheel on the '92+ models. I remember seeing a black connector on the right side. I might look on the right side of the steering wheel now

One thing I noticed after I was driving the car after I reset the ECU, is that the CEL would come on shorty after I turned the heat on, and would go off shortly after I turned off the heat. I guess I won't really know what is going on until I pull the codes again, which I don't know if I will do today, due to the weather
