WTB: 5MT ASAP

Post by Mattheww044 »

So i should have seen it coming since I got an aftermarket clutch and I planned on buying a spare tranny and getting it cryotreated, anyways I blew out first gear. I need a tranny ASAP this is my only car. If anyone has one that they can spare withing driving distance please let me know ASAP. What other transmissions can i swap in while keeping the 3.90 ratio?

Florin, how many miles are on that tranny? How much would u want for it? I would be willing to make the trip for the right price. I have access to the RS tranny but I don't really wanna deal with swapping everything. I'd rather just drop the stock tranny right back in and start saving for a JDM tranny. 2hawt4u did you sell your 5mt already?

How much boost? How did you break it? Were you launching it?

Scared of breaking gears in mine... I run 17psi on the TD05 with 243k on my 5-speed. :?

Yea I was at the drags and I was being a puss my first few runs because I knew the tranny wouldn't last forever. Last run soni decided to actually launch it. I got a damn good launch and BAM! I think you should be fine as long as you don't launch, because it WILL break

Someone told me once; Its not power that breaks things, its traction. You're tires are clearly too wide.
You can still drive it, just start in second. It'll make you better with the clutch.

Well yea it was most definitely traction that broke it. It was easier to break the gear than it was to spin the tires haha. When I drive it in other gears you can hear chunks and dust rolling around in the tranny and it got stuck in third on the way home but it finally came out. Would I be age to drive it around in 2-5 or bad idea?

I was kidding. Sorry, it didn't translate very well.
Probably not a good idea to drive it with gear teeth cruising around in your tranny case.

Don't have a whole lot to trade. Some tools and stuff but not much for aftermarket parts. Im gonna start saving up right now and buy a cheap running car or a tranny. whatever comes up first
